WebIn Caenorhabditis elegans, disruption of some cuticle collagen genes activates osmolyte and antimicrobial response genes. Physical damage to the epidermis also activates antimicrobial responses. Here, we assayed the effect of knocking down genes required for cuticle and epidermal integrity on diverse cellular stress responses. WebPreviously, we intensively investigated the molecular mechanism that underlies toxicity caused by AgNPs in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Using transcriptomics, functional genetics, and various molecular/biochemical tools, we identified oxidative stress as the major mechanism underlying toxicity and reproduction failure as the outcome.

WebPerlara’s worm team recently attended two C. elegans neuroscience conferences – CE Neuro 2024 & CE Aging 2024 – both held at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. This post recaps Zach and my time at the CE Neuro 2024 conference, which focused on neuronal development, synaptic function & behavior. The CE Aging meeting was recapped in a ... WebDec 27, 2024 · Stress-induced sleep (SIS) in C. elegans may represent an ancestral state that evolved to promote recovery following environmental stress or infection. In more complex organisms, SIS may be coordinated with circadian regulation, acting to counteract perturbations of homeostasis known to be associated with prolonged wakefulness. http://web.mit.edu/horvitz/www/abstracts.html jobs board fire
